I read on the internet (so it has to be true) that Mickey's has been open since 1953. Even if the date is a few years off, Mickey's is an institution in East Hartford. When you stop by, there might be a line. Don't worry, the line moves fast.
They do a brisk business without a formal seating area. Just counters with stools along the side walls and a small picnic table area outside. A lot of the people eat in their car.
Mickeys serves FRESH seafood, sandwiches, salads and sides as well as a breakfast items. I used to work down the street and would stop by for a breakfast sandwich on my way in or walk over for a lunch (fish n chips or whole belly clams). I stopped by a couple times this summer and the food was just as satisfying as it was 10 years ago.
They offer a number of weekly specials. Weekdays between 3 and 6 p.m. get a fish sandwich, regularly $4.49, for $2.99. On Mondays, any quart of chowder, bisque or soup is $2 off and Fish n Chips or Fish n Chips Dinner is $2 off also.
Mickey's is open Monday through Thursday 7am to 7pm, on Fridays they are open 7am to 8pm Saturdays (during the summer) is open 11am to 7pm. Mickey's is closed Sundays.
