This arboretum was created by Dr. Gula Folly, a medical doctor from Pécs. He attempted to collect species which thrive in the climate of the Balaton and at the same time are drought tolerant. He ordered the trees from foreign, mainly Western European. The first planting was 0.4 hectare. No horticultural design preceded it, because nobody was familiar with the final dimensions of the new, unknown trees. The death of the founder and World War I halted the development and the family's activities were restricted to taking care of the existing trees. 1950 the family estates were nationalised with the miraculous exception of the arboretum which remained in their care. Today agricultural engineer Gyula Folly, grandchild of the owner maintaining the 5 hectare garden, that is one of the specially protected areas of Balaton Uplands National Park since 1997.

Cedars, cypresses, Syrian junipers (Juniperus drupacea), grey pines (Pinus sabiniana), Coulter pines (Pinus coulteri), and coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) and other exotic species living in the garden.

A kertben cédrus fajok, ciprus fajok, szír boróka (Juniperus drupacea), szabin fenyo (Pinus sabiniana), óriástobozú fenyo (Pinus coulteri), tengerparti mamutfenyo (Sequoia sempervirens) és más egzóták élek.
