This 18 hectares arboretum formed from the English garden of the Cistercian Abbey of Zirc, collects and presents plants indigenous to the Bakony Hills. This is the highest-elevation arboretum of Hungary. In 1753 the forest has been felled around the monastery, but few old trees were spared, including a Pedunculate Oak now estimated to be 400 years old. The garden's famous row of linden trees was planted in 1809. In 1855 a new bed was dug for the Cuha Stream, which crosses the park, while a small island was created in the lake.
