This Observatory is on the open, accessible campus of the University. There are roadways throughout the facility and visitors are welcome.

As described by the website:
'It belongs to The Cranfield Astronomical Society who aim to provide a forum at Cranfield for the discussion of all astronomical matters, to encourage amateur observation and to operate, on behalf of the University, the observatory which was built to house the telescopes. The observatory is equipped with the Loxham 16 inch Cassegrain telescope on a powered equatorial mounting along with a Newtonian telescope of 8.5 inch aperture. Facilities exist for simple astrophotography through the main equipment. Some computer software is available for demonstration and observation calculations.

Apart from our regular meetings, the Society is to conduct a 6 sessions course in Basic Astronomy and Observation on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm starting on 16th October 2007 in building 50. The cost of the course is £10 for students of Cranfield University and £17 for non-students (this includes one year Society's membership).'
