The steam train ride at Silverwood Theme Park in Athol Idaho. (visit link)

The 2-6-2 engine used for the SCR is former Eureka Nevada #7. It was built by H. K. Porter in August of 1915. (visit link) This is a narrow gauge 36" line and according to Steam Locomotive.com this is the only operation Steam Engine in Idaho. (visit link)

Answers.com indicates the train was bought "in 1986, Gary Norton traveled to an auction, and bid on a 1915 steam train against Disney Enterprises. Mr. Norton outbid Disney, and had the train sent to his air port. He then had the idea of building a small theme park and laying down track for the train. The idea was of having a park that had an exhibit of all kinds of historic transportation. The park officially opened in 1987." (visit link)

The line is approximately three miles long around the 700 acre property. When the park opened the train was the only ride in what is now the largest theme park in the Northwest. (visit link)

At the mid point of the ride a mock holdup for charity is staged.

The fee to enter the park covers the train ride and the other rides in the park including access to the Boulder Beach water park area.
