US Forest Service 100th Anniversary, Washington, DC, is a 12-inch commemorative disk located on the east side of 14th Street SW between Independence Ave SW and Jefferson Drive SW near The Mall in Washington, DC. The disk is mounted in the top of a 14-inch x 14-inch granite shaft that projects 22 inches. The disk is about 170 feet north of the north curb of Independence Ave SW, about 144 feet south of the south curb of Jefferson Place SW, and about 25 feet east of the east curb of 14th Street SW. The disk does not have any specific identifying stamping except the standard design elements of the commemorative series of disks: the US Forest Service logo and the text: 100 YEARS OF CARING FOR THE LAND AND SERVING PEOPLE – 1905 – 2005. The granite base is inscribed HIGH ACCURACY GEODETIC CONTROL MARK – USDA FOREST SERVICE 100TH ANNIVERSARY – THANKS TO [logos of six supporting organizations]. To reach from the east side of the base of the Washington Monument, walk south-southeast for about 660 feet to the intersection of 15th Street NW and Jefferson Drive. Continue southeast on Jefferson Drive for about 360 feet to the intersection with 14th Street SW. Cross 14th Street to the southeast corner of the intersection and walk south on the east sidewalk of 14th Street for about 144 feet to the granite monument on the left and the station.
