St Martin’s Church on a cramped position at the northern corner of the Cathedral Close. Having escaped both Victorian refurnishing and the Second World War bombing which severely damaged other Exeter churches, St Martin’s has kept both its medieval simplicity and its 18th century charm. The first church on this site was consecrated on 6 July 1065 by Bishop Leofric, the same bishop who founded the cathedral which stands nearby in Exeter.
The tower looks more like a large chimney to me rather than a bell tower!
