The Church, formerly a Chapel of Ease, was re-built in 1850, at a cost of about £3,000. St Margaret's has an aisled nave and a three-stage west tower that dominates the skyline. Inside the church is some nice stained glass which includes a Millennium window that also commemorates the tercentenary of the Hawes Market Charter. In the tower is a peal of eight Harrington tubular bells, which were paid for by subscription in 1887. The bells cost of £150. The original parish bier is displayed in the church. Much of the church furniture is by 'Mousey' Thompson, a famous Yorkshire carver..
