This Chapel was built in 1876, the same year that the Midland Railway Company opened their famous Settle–Carlisle line, and the stonework is identical to that of the nearby Dandrymire viaduct.
There is no longer a Methodist Society there, and the chapel would have closed, but a group of friends who are interested in the history of the chapel decided to keep it open for occasional special events. They are delighted at the support which they have received from so many people who have had links with the chapel in the past. They have planned several new events during the year.
