"He wasn't famous, but he'd already developed a signature style, and the bike fit his image. By mid-March "Heartbreak Hotel" was climbing the charts, and Elvis was on his way as rock 'n' roll's first superstar. Elvis remained a lifelong Harley enthusiast, and the connection between motorcycles and rock 'n' roll stuck. They just seem to go together."

"Twenty-one-year-old Elvis Presley purchased this bike new from Memphis Harley-Davidson dealer Tommy Taylor. With the trade-in of an older bike, the price tag was $903. Presley opted for a payment plan of $50 a month. It was one of many Harley-Davidson motorcycles that he would own and give away. He gifted this one to friend Fleming Horne.
Before the bike went to Horne, Presley appeared with it on the cover of the May 1956 "Enthusiast." The title of the accompanying article was "Who is Elvis Presley?" revealing the singer was not yet the phenomenon he would soon become."
