This old church is situated at the bottom of West Street in an old part of Exeter where the west gate to the city used to be.
The original church dates from about 1150, the present church was rebuilt in the 15th century and now consists of a main building and tower of red Heavitree sandstone.
An interesting feature is the Matthew the Miller clock which was restored in 1980. Made in 1619-21 by Matthew Hoppin, it is said to be named after a local miller who lived his life precisely to the tick of the clock.
