In Memoriam Mural - La Union, Spain - Murals on Waymarking.com

Near the center of La Union, Spain, stands this amazing mural. Dedicated to Spanish miners who were sent to the concentration camps of Mauthasen and Gusen. They became slave labor for the granite mines there.
The 15 objects in the upper right hand corner of the mural represent the lanterns that have gone out for each miner. The list of names includes one from the village of La Union.
La Union area is still an active mining community for Manganese, Iron and Silver.
