Cut Bench Mark on Parish Boundary stone at Gallows Gate, Torquay. It is a TTC boundary marker which I believe stands for Torquay Town Council, as it was then. This boundary marker is within a few feet of the old Gallows Gate believed to be a place where a man was hanged by his own stolen sheep as he climbed the gate. The cut bench mark is at the top of the boundary marker stone with the horizontal line worn away with age. This CBM does not appear in the OS database. It was found by accident whilst investigating the history of the old Gallows Gate.
Type of Trigpoint: Cut Bench Mark
Condition: Slightly Damaged
