The Tauranga-Taupo River mouth lies on the eastern shores of Lake Taupo in the centre of the North Island.

A popular place for trout fishing, the Tauranga-Taupo River mouth is very deep and can be dangerous for wading. There is good fishing off the spit especially at night. Depending on Lake levels you can drive along the spit and fish at the river mouth or wade out to the drop-off.

Access is from Heuheu Parade (Te Rangiita) just south of the main road bridge.
