You can read all about the house in the excellent web site (listed below) set up by the owners (the Mississippi Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans). It is a beautiful home originally constructed using slave labor. As such it shows both the best and the worst of our Country. With it's commanding view of the Mississippi Sound, it was unfortunately a target of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. The owners have performed a seemingly impossible feat to restore it to where it is today. If you are looking for the essence of the deep South, if not America itself, this house should be on your list.
