Newhalem is a tiny town in the North Cascades that is owned by Seattle City Light. This pad, located in the center of town is used by the power company and also by the National Park Service to access remote parts of North Cascades NP.

The North Cascades of Washington State is home to North Cascades National Park and the Ross Lake National Recreation Area. North Cascades NP is features over 300 glaciers and is the least developed and visited National Park in the continental US. Within the area lies the towns of Diablo and Newhalem, owned by Seattle City Light and home to the many employees who run the 3 dams and 4 powerhouses along the Skagit river.
In the center of the little town of Newhalem is this small helipad. It is primarily used to transport City Light employees, National Park employees and researchers to remote areas of the park. It is also a staging area for practice and real rescues within the mountains.
