For the 12th consecutive year, Hennepin County Medical Center is named in the U.S. News publication of America’s Best Hospitals. The medical center’s expertise in the areas of Endocrinology (ranked 41st) and Kidney Disease (ranked 47th) were recognized in this year’s publication.

The 2008 America’s Best Hospitals guide ranks 170 medical centers nationwide in 16 specialties. Hennepin County Medical Center has been ranked in a variety of specialties every year since 1997.

Hennepin’s recognized patient care in endocrinology at the Hennepin Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology includes comprehensive services to people with hormonal disorders such as diabetes. In the area of kidney disease, Hennepin provides diagnostic and treatment services for patients with all types of kidney disease and diabetes and is nationally recognized for renal research. The transplant program was the first kidney transplant center in the Upper Midwest and has been recognized as one of the top three transplant programs in the nation by the University Health Consortium.

Hennepin County Medical Center is a nationally recognized Level 1 Trauma Center with the largest emergency department in Minnesota. The comprehensive academic medical center and public teaching hospital includes a 446-bed acute care hospital and primary care and specialty clinics located in downtown Minneapolis, and four primary care clinics in Minneapolis and suburban Hennepin County.
