High Force is a splendid waterfall on the River Tees north-west of Middleton-in-Teesdale in County Durham.

The river falls 20 metres at High Force. It is not Britain's highest waterfall as some suppose. Until the reservoir at Cow Green was built the river poured over the falls on both sides of the gorge. This seldom happens today. Nevertheless it is still a spectacular sight and well worth the visit.
