Previously known as The Hartford Bridge, The Bulkeley Bridge is named for Connecticut governor and United States Senator, Morgan Bulkeley.

Construction began in 1903, to replace a covered bridge, built in 1818 which burned in 1895. Opened in 1908.

This is one of four bridges in the greater Hartford area for crossing the Connecticut River.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the bridge it will be lit up at night during October. On October 2nd, the Jaycees are hosting an event in which the bridge will be lit for the first time in October and there will be a fireworks display. (visit link)

On October 19th, there will be a re-dedication of the bridge between noon and 3:30 pm at Riverside Park (Hartford side of the river - N41 46.360 W072 40.046) (visit link)
