In 1999 Captain Lovell with his family opened up Lovells of Lake Forest, a classic full service restaurant in the heart of West Lake Forest, where you will experience fine dining in an environment of casual elegance.

Captain James A. Lovell was chosen for the space program in 1962 after an illustrious career as a Navy aviator and test pilot. He commanded two Gemini missions, was command module pilot for Apollo 8, which circled the moon, and heroically commanded Apollo 13, bringing it safely back to earth after an oxygen system failure.

In 1994, Lovell and Jeff Kluger wrote Lost Moon, the story of the courageous mission of Apollo 13. In 1995, the film version of the bestseller, 'Apollo 13' was released to rave reviews, starring Tom Hanks.

In the entrance you can see the mural Steeds of Apollo, which served as a model for the mission patch. In the lower level area a series of displays of memorabilia, photos and documents from Lovell's career.
