Opened at this site on March 14th, 1992, Mission Raceway Park has developed a reputation as one of the best 1/4 mile tracks in the Pacific Northwest. A National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) sanctioned track since its opening, MRP has been awarded the Division Six Best Track award a total of 8 times to date. A large part of the reputation has to do with the location. At only 24 feet above sea level and located beside a flowing freshwater river of some size, (The Fraser River) the quality of air can be at times, equivalent to being below sea level by as much as 100 feet. This means some serious extra horsepower to the engines of the race vehicles. Many records, especially in the Stock and Super Stock classes, have been set or broken at this facility.
While the facility is owned and the drag strip is operated by the B.C. Custom Car Association, (BCCCA) there are two other tracks on site. A 9 turn, 2.2 km (1.4 mi) long road race track and Motor cross track. The road race track is operated by The Sports Car Club of British Columbia, (S.C.C.B.C.) and is also used by the Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club. (WMRC) The motocross track is operated by the
