For years, the owners of Burnside Ice Company heard people talk about brewing their own beer with the water sold here (50 cents a gallon). The water from the aquifer that Burnside Ice taps into was tested and had several characteristics similar with water used in many fine British ales.

With an old recipe and equipment purchased from the Wyoming Brewing Co., Olde Burnside Brewing Company was born. In addition to the Ten Penny Ale (a Scottish Ale), they produce Dirty Penny Ale (a black and Tan mix) (my favorite) and Penny Weiz (a Belgian Witbier) as well as a few seasonal specialties. This is a family run business and when you visit (for ice, water or just to say hello) you will most likely meet one of the owners.

The ales are available at package stores and some restaurants. The web page lists where to find it. Olde Burnside is a major supporter for Pipes in the Valley Scottish Festival held the last Saturday in September. (visit link)
