This monument is dedicated to the memory of all who died in war against fascists during WWII in Yugoslavia. The author of this monument is Frano Krsinic (1897-1982), Croatian sculptor. Monument is located at the south side of Strossmayer Square in Zagreb, Croatia.

In World War II, the Yugoslav Partisans fought against the Axis forces. They steadily gained power during the struggle, winning recognition from the Allies and the Yugoslavian government-in-exile as the legitimate Yugoslav liberation force. The movement grew to become the largest resistance force in occupied Europe, with 800,000 men organized in 4 field armies.
