The history of Canterbury Cathedral is long and deep.

The current building began construction in 1070 to replace an earlier church. Since then it has been damaged many times during wars, but it has always been repaired and added upon as well. The most recent addition occurred in the 1830's.

Because it is hard to summarize nearly 1,000 years of history in such a short space, please visit the provided links to get a full understanding of the architecture and history of this place.
