The permanent exhibits at the Imperial War Museum are mostly centered around the World Wars - although conflicts after 1945 are also discussed.
The museum is not just on the military equipment and personnel.
There are exhibits devoted to the civilians in war, with the Holocaust Exhibit being one of the most impactful.
There are also exhibits about war in art - photos, drawings, painting, etc.
All of the permanent exhibits are free of cost and most allow photography (the Holocaust Exhibit does not permit photos).
The temporary and touring exhibits are well-themed to the rest of the museum. Two examples during my visit included the Children at War (looking at war through the eyes of a child) and an exhibit on Ian Fleming's James Bond (which worked well with the permanent exhibit about espionage). Some of the temporary exhibits (such as the one for Ian Fleming's James Bond) may include a fee.
Opening hours: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Open all year: Except for some holidays
