The Gurleyville Mill is an old mill along the Fenton River in Mansfield, CT. The walls are made of stone, which is unique in Connecticut. It is also unusual in that it has been preserved in the state it was in when the mill was last used in 1940.

The mill was built in 1835. Previous to this mill, there was a sawmill on the site as early as 1723. This mill was a gristmill, but it also served several other purposes over its life, including corn husking, sawing, and other machine work.

In 1979, the Joshua's Track Conservation and Trust, Inc., purchased the mill. They now open the mill for Sundays in the summer for tours. Check their web site from the link, below, to find out details.

Most of the mill is intact. An addition to the mill has since been taken off. The dam that used to divert the water to the dam was washed away in a flood in 1959 - only parts of the wall on shore remain. The main floor still has the grinding wheel, belts, gears, corn husker, various machinery and tools, and the flour hopper. The room underneath still has most of the gears, but the tub wheel is gone.

To reach the mill (from the Joshua's Track Conservation and Trust, Inc. web site): The best approach is via Route 195 from Interstate 84 in Tolland or from Route 6 in the eastern part of Willimantic. At the northeast corner of the University of Connecticut by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, turn eastward on Gurleyville Road. At Gurleyville Village, turn southward and abruptly turn to the right down narrow Stone Mill Road. From the south, you may leave Route 195 at the village of Mansfield Center and follow Chaffeeville Road to Stone Mill Road.
