For over a century now, visitors can ride from Victoria Station in Llandudno (at the posted coordinates) to the top of the Great Orme and return on the
Great Orme Tramway from March until October. Today's visitors pay £5.20 for a round trip.
Because of the design of the carriages and since the track winds through the streets of Llandudno, visitors may think this is a cable car system like San Francisco, California, but it is a funicular - which is all explained with a series of signs and viewing windows of the station's mechanisms when riders transfer carriages at the Halfway Station (N53° 19.833' W03° 50.595').
When visitors reach the Summit Station (N53° 19.934' W03° 51.268'), they are rewarded with great views and opportunities to explore nature and history and a little fun at the top. Please be aware that the winds can be much greater up here.
