The Tourist site describes the spa:

'It is believed that Trefriw Wells Spa was first discovered by Romans from the XX Roman legion stationed at Canovium, 3 miles north of Trefriw. In about 1874 a Victorian bath and pump house was built and for the first time the water was sold to the public.

On a self guided tour, you can enter the ancient cavern and sample the water direct from the rock, see the cyclopean bath house and discover many interesting items unique to Trefriw Wells Spa.

There is also a tearoom and Spa Beauty shop.'

We visited the spa on a day of 70mph winds; this caused a powercut in the village. The power was on in the spa tearoom as they are located a little way out of the main village on the B5106 road. However, we chatted to the lady to discover that the self-guided tour was unavailable as at last the old beam had collapsed in the bath house. She had been waiting for it to go for sometime and today was the day. Therefore we couldn't actually venture round the spa itself. We will return, that's a promise.

Spatone, the iron rich water is sold all over the world and is delivered by mail order. It is a natural supplement and effective for anaemia.
This is primarily a: Hammam/Turkish/Roman Bath
