This unassuming memorial is in McPhelemy Park in Buena Vista, colorado. It was difficult to find any explanation of the person to whom the memorial is dedicated. U.S. Army Private William Joseph Walsh , Jr., was born in July 1894. He died in 1918 near Brest, France on Troop Ship. He is buried at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista, Colorado. I assume this memorial was installed at his father's urging (William Joseph Walsh) since Walsh (senior) died on February 28, 1924 in Buena Vista. (Rootsweb ID: I0748)
