The churchyard at Linkinhorne has a long history. There has been a church on this site since Norman times and there would have been burials in the churchyard since those times. The earliest gravestones in the churchyard are 17th century. In the gateway is a slab of stone. The pall bearers would have rested the coffin on it before proceeding into the churchyard.
