The Egyptian Theater, designed by architect Montana Fallis, opened in 1928. Fallis also designed the Mayan Theatre in Denver. The beautifully maintained building is ornamented with an art-deco version of ancient Egyptian design.
Following the 1922 discovery of King Tut's tomb, Egyptian motifs became popular, an earlier example being Grauman's Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, California.
The Delta Egyptian Theater continues to function as a movie palace, showing classic and contemporary films. The theater is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
