The Captain Cook Bi-Centenary Fountain was builted by the Lions Club of Maitland and unveiled by Sir Robert Webster on 24th April 1970. This fountain commemorates bi-centenary of the discovery of Australia by Captain James Cook in 1770.

A little over two years after its original unveiling the fountain was handed over to the City of Maitland, on 26th May 1972.

This fountain is located in the grounds of the Maitland City Library (see WM40ZA).
