This fantastic old yew tree lies in the small churchyard of St Dygain's Church in Llangernyw village. It is believed to be 4000-5000 years old and is still growing. It's worth was appreciated at the Queen's Golden Jubilee in June 2002 and is sponsored by The Tree Council and The National Grid.

It would have been planted in the prehistoric Bronze Age.

Until recently an oil tank stood in the space between the fragments of the trunks, on the spot where the original tree once grew. Realisation that this was one of Wales’s oldest trees encouraged the authorities to site the tank elsewhere. It is unfortunate that much of the dead wood, a source of evidence especially useful to researcher and dendrochronologist, has been removed.
