Water rights for the Marion Creek Fish Hatchery come from two sources: Marion Creek and Horn Creek. A satellite operation is at Minto Pond, 33 miles downstream.
Marion Forks is a hatchery program as defined by ODFW (Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife), conducting egg incubation and raising of spring Chinook and collection of winter steelhead.
According to the hatchery employee I spoke with when I visited, all the ponds are currently being used for chinook salmon except for one large pond at the entrance that houses trout of various sizes and ages for the viewing pleasure of the visitors.
The hatchery is open to the public, and there is an information kiosk on the property. You can find picnic tables amongst the trees along the creek, and there is an improved (fee) campground at the back of the hatchery.
Excellent data can be found at the ODFW website: (
