Lifton is situated in the valley of the River Lyd, near the border of Devon and Cornwall. Founded by Saxons in the 8thC and named after the river. The Church of St Mary’s was mostly built in 15th century with a ‘wagon’ style roof. It had been restored and repaired many times over the years.
This stone church stands in the centre of the village of Lifton and is situated 6 miles east from the nearest town of Launceston.
