The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a nineteenth century glass-covered shopping arcade. It connects two of Milan's landmarks, the Duomo and the Teatro ala Scala. It is one of the first modern covered shopping street--an ancient example, being the Forum of Trajan in Rome. The "mall" is decidedly upscale. You are unlikely to find a "Cinnabon" franchise here, but you will find Prada and Fendi. Actual shopping is pricey, but people-watching and window-shopping is free and delightful.
