The Mackinac Bridge is a true engineering marvel. At over 5 miles long in total length was the world's longest Suspension Bridge for many years (it is now the 3rd longest in the world). Construction began in 1954 and was completed in 1957, during which 5 men die while working on the bridge.

A 3 Cent USA stamp was issue in 1958 to commemorate the bridge's construction.
