Latest News: The Waipa Delta is at present sailing in Auckland Harbour. See below:
In 1985 the Waipa Delta was designed and built from the memory of two great paddle steamers, the Waipa and the Delta. The Waipa Delta was built in Tauranga and launched and tested on the harbour before her journey across the Kaimai Ranges aboard a house removal truck. From 1985 until early 2009 the Waipa Delta cruised the Waikato River based in Hamilton.

In early June 2009, with a crew of nine, the Waipa Delta began her epic journey by river, sea and ocean to complete the delivery voyage to her new home base here on Prince's Wharf. The voyage took the Waipa Delta down the Waikato River to Port Waikato, across the infamous Waikato Bar, up the rugged west coast of New Zealand and around New Zealand’s most northern tip of Cape Rienga. From here she cruised down the east coast to Auckland with stopovers in the beautiful harbour of Whangaroa, The Bay of Islands, Tutukaka, Whangarei, and Kawau Island.

Another boat now cruises the Waikato River. See: "Te Awa Kuini"
