"Built as part of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia complex, the church of Nossa Senhora de Bonsucesso is one of the oldest in Rio.
Construction began here in 1576, alongside Castelo Hill.
Rebuilt in 1780, it still retains the altars and pulpit from the equally ancient Jesuit Church which was destroyed when Castelo Hill was razed." (visit link)
