Made in England in the 1850's, the two cannons were shipped to Sydney to form part of the Sydney defences during the Crimean War. The cannons were then moved to Signal Hill (now Fort Scratchley) in Newcastle. In 1909 the cannons were barged to Booral via the Karuah River, then via bullock wagon to their current location atop Silo Hill in Stroud.
