Grouse has two aerial tramways. The first, with 2 - 45 passenger cars, opened on December 15, 1966.
In 1974, the newest tramway was built and it has a capacity of 100 people per car. Together they make up the largest capacity system in North America.
The original lift was installed to expand access to the skiing area on Grouse Mountain along with some summer activities. Since then, the mountain has grown into a 12 month operation with several activities available both summer and winter.
The 100 passenger version makes the trip from about the 300 metre level in elevation to a tad over 1,100 metre level in about 8 minutes with departures every 15 minutes.
