The Allegany State Park system is such that it extends into Pennsylvannia and includes sections of the Allegheny River and the Allegheny National Forest. And yes, locally, it has several differnt spellings!
Allegany State Park's includes 65,000 acres of primitive forested valleys, wildlife (bears, oh my), sand beaches, picnic areas, museums, hiking trails and naturalist walks. It also includes 90 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and over 150 winterized cabins. Other activities include bird watching, picnicking, fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, canoeing, and horseback riding. There are 424 campsites, 375 cabins and three group camps available for rental. There are year round vacation rental cottages that are fully equipped with the latest conveniences located in both the Red House and Quaker areas.
