[FR] La Tour Total Coupole (anciennement Tour Elf de 1985 à 1999, puis Tour Total-Fina-Elf de 1999 à 2003, également nommée Tour Total, bien que ce terme désigne une ancienne tour démolie depuis) est un gratte-ciel de bureaux situé dans le quartier d'affaires de La Défense, en France. Actuellement, celle-ci abrite une partie des bureaux de la société pétrolière Total. Il s'agissait auparavant des anciens bureaux d'Elf Aquitaine.

La Tour Total Coupole mesure 190 m de haut. Le toit est situé à 187 m du sol et supporte un petit local de télécommunication d'une hauteur d'environ 3 m. L'emplacement de la tour était à l'origine prévu pour accueillir la tour jumelle de la Tour Areva, finalement jamais construite.

La Tour Total Coupole fait partie de la 3e génération de tours à la Défense. Ses architectes ont donc pu tenir compte des erreurs commises pour les tours de 2e génération (Tour Gan, Tour AXA, Tour Areva). Ainsi, tous les bureaux de la tour sont de premier jour et elle intègre une bonne gestion des économies d'énergies (vitrages isolant, gestion de la consommation énergétique).

Elle est composée de 5 tours accolées les unes aux autres. Si la plus haute compte 48 étages, les deux suivantes en comportent 37 et 44.

[EN] Tour Total (previously known as Tour Elf from 1985 to 1999, and Tour TotalFinaElf from 1999 to 2003) is an office skyscraper located in La Défense, Courbevoie, the high-rise business district west of and adjacent to the city of Paris, France. The building now serves as headquarters for Total SA, one of the six "Supermajor" oil companies in the world.

Completed and opened in 1985, Tour Total is 190 m (623 ft) tall; a three-metre (9 ft) long antennae is located on its roof which is 187 m (614 ft) above the ground. The site on which the Tour Total was built was initially reserved for a skyscraper which would have been a twin tower to Tour Areva, but the oil shock of 1974 forced the investors to cancel their project.

Tour Total is one of La Défense's third generation of skyscrapers. Architects took into account the flaws in towers of previous generations (such as Tour Areva, Tour Gan, Tour AXA). For instance, the Tour Total is a lot more efficient in terms of energy consumption than previous La Défense skyscrapers.

Tour Total actually consists of five bodies of different heights being super-imposed on each other. The tallest of those bodies has 48 floors, the next two have 44 and 37 floors respectively.
