Alport Heights has a disused quarry with this distinctive pillar of rock remaining. It has long been a climbing challenge. Looking north west. Pictures of modern climber and past boulderer.

Climbers have for a long time challenged themselves to climb up and back down this gritstone pillar. There appears to be no way to protect yourself with a rope. Notice the name chiselled near the top. Old photo is of a climber from 1900. The modern photo is 2008.
Year photo was taken: 1900
