The land in Haye road on which the chapel was built was acquired from Lord Ashburton in 1844 and the building was completed in 1845. This was a time of poverty and hunger. It required a lot of vision and strength from the pioneers of this chapel to complete the task they had set themselves.
In 1868 the church was enlarged. A Sunday school was added to the rear of the building in 1872. By 1876 the trustees had sufficent funds to purchase the freehold for £100. In 1932 the Wesleyans, Primitive and United Methodists joined together leaving Callington with three Methodist Churches. During 1953 the chapel in Tavistock road closed. In 1966 it was decided to amalgamate this the West End chapel with the chapel in Launceston road, Callington. The chapel in Launceston road was closed and later sold to the Mustard Seed Mission. Nearly £11,000 were spent on extending the West End chapel. This is Callington's last remaining Methodist church. On the 12 November 1970 a Day of Thanksgiving was held to celebrate the completion of these works. This is a well supported church even to this day.
