This milestone is on the Callington to Launceston Turnpike road. The A388, beside which this milestone is sited, is the new route to Launceston as the old road went via Stoke Climsland and Beales Bridge. The new route dates from the late 18th century. This milestone is one of a number I have spotted in the area which have the mileage etc painted on rather than carved into the stone. The markings on this stone are rather faint I am sorry to say.
