Alport Heights was acquired by the National Trust in 1930, and this topograph was sponsored by Severn Trent Water to celebrate the opening of Carsingon Water in 1992. It shows the distance and bearing to Power stations in the Trent valley.

Alport Heights is a high point in southern Derbyshire, with several transmitter masts on. There are two large parking areas and a small disused overgrown quarry.
The topograph is a metal disc mounted on a sandstone block, in a clearing of gorse. There are unrestricted views all round.
