The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Sedgeford, is unusually situated, near the bottom of the Heacham river valley.
The tower is sometimes referred to as 'Saxo-Norman', meaning that the design is Saxon but built after the Norman conquest, with a much later octagonal top storey. The large chancel, nave, aisles and font date from the end of the 12th century, the fine clerestory windows from the 14th.
There are several interesting features (including traces of early mediæval wall paintings) to see in this much loved and regularly used village church.
The Rector, the Rev. Andrew Butcher, lives at Docking.
