This cache reveals the rich military heritage of Alaska during the Cold War. The call sign for this plane was Kramer 31, piloted by 1lt Thomas Patton while in route to Eielson AFB when it crashed here. It took 3 years to research the history of this crash and in doing so we learned what makes heroes.
The trip to the site won’t be easy, it is very rough. Using a 4wheeler, Jeep, or a long hike is the best way, unless a helicopter is affordable. Please walk that last part as Tread Lightly is in force, stay on the trail and avoid damaging the area.
Credit will be given to those who reach this site and take a picture of themselves with GPS in hand in front of the plaque affixed to the main wing.
