Please DO NOT CONFUSE THIS BUILDING WITH THE SYDNEY TOWER. This waymark is NOT the Sydney Tower.
Chifley Tower, located at 2 Chifley Square, Sydney, is bounded by Hunter, Phillip and Bent Streets.
Designed to sit in harmony with its surroundings Chifley Tower makes the most of sweeping harbour and city views.
The tower is used primarily for commercial use, mostly financial institutions, law firms and corporations. The building, due to its prominent location, sometimes gives the illusion that it is the tallest in the city.
A 3 metre lightning rod was added in 2000, the spire is 244 m the rooftop height is 216 m. The tip of spire is 270 meters above sea level. To stop the tower from moving in the wind a giant steel pendulum weighing 400 tonnes is held from 8x75 mm wires near the rooftop. The Level 41 Restaurant is 185 m above street level.
